ABOUT

Arantxa Lashley was born in New Amsterdam, Guyana in 1997 to a family of teachers. Her artistic influence came from her father, who was also an artist for 20 years, and gave her an introduction to fabric painting at the age of 10. Since then, the visual arts had always been close to her throughout her scholarly life, and she decided to formally pursue a degree in Studio Art after emigrating to the United States at age 17. The exposure to many different techniques and mediums in her classes gave her experience working with many forms of art. Her favorite mediums so far have been working with clay and stone, as well as virtually with the Adobe Suite.

Some of her notable works include "Separation", "Bubble", and "Silence", all of which are personal commentaries on the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.
